Community mourns loss of Yorktown woman in tragic, fiery crash

The Yorktown community came together to mourn the loss of a 20-year-old Yorktown High School graduate who was killed in a fiery weekend car crash as her father was driving behind her.

Lauren D'Amato's parents say that she was upset when she left her Gomer Street home around 4:45 a.m. Sunday. D'Amato may have been speeding and lost control of her car when she crashed into several trees on Hanover Street. A neighbor and D'Amato's own father pulled her from the wreckage just moments after the crash, but she was pronounced dead on scene.

Memorial services were held at the Clark Funeral Home in Yorktown all yesterday afternoon and evening. Services will continue today. A funeral has been scheduled for Thursday at Saint Patrick's Church, also in Yorktown.Yorktown car accident leaves 1 dead
