WC family gathers Christmas gifts for neighbors in need

It looked like Santa's workshop in one Harrison home this weekend as a local family asked its community to come together to help some of its neighbors who are desperately in need this holiday season.

Katherine Frankel says that she was inspired to start a grassroots initiative called "The Christmas Project" after hearing that there were more than 70 families in Harrison that were in need this holiday season. "We talked to a mother who had tears in her eyes, saying 'What do I tell my child when he's hungry and he has no food?'" Frankel says. She adds that story has touched everyone that she has told it to, and within three weeks, she had some 80 families on board for the donation project.

All of the gifts will be distributed to local families one week before Christmas.
