County cutting funding for WC holiday show

A group of Yonkers seniors who survived a nightmare cruise off of the California coast may have held their final holiday party last night as the county is now threatening to cut off funding for the group's annual celebration.

Westchester County Legislator Bernice Spreckman has organized the holiday party at the Yonkers Polish Center for the last 23 years, but says that the state told her that it will only give half of the money needed for their June party. She adds the seniors will have to raise the rest.

Margaret Assante, one of the seniors who survived the nightmare ordeal on Carnival Splendor, says that the group has been through a lot, and won't let this latest hiccup stop them.
