Iona College nun accused of embezzlement indicted

A nun who served as the head of finance for Iona College has been indicted on embezzlement charges for allegedly pilfering more than a million dollars from the New Rochelle school over a 10-year period.

Sister Marie Thornton, who goes by the name, "Sister Susie," allegedly submitted phony invoices to the college as well as credit card bills for personal expenses.

Iona College officials say they have gotten most of the money back and consider the case closed.
