Yorktown community helps families left homeless by fire

The Yorktown community has joined together to help raise money for two families left homeless by a fire yesterday morning.

The fire broke out at a two-family home on Gomer Court after 5 a.m. Carlo Lucido, his wife, Erin, and their three children were able to run out of the home uninjured after a passing state trooper saw the flames and banged on the door.

The Lucidos say the community has held fundraisers, providing them with piles of clothes and food within the past 24 hours.

The other family living in the home suffered burns and smoke inhalation. Both families say they lost everything they had inside.
