Overcrowded HV animal shelter calling all pet lovers

One Rockland animal shelter is seeing an unprecedented overcrowding of cats and is now calling on all local pet lovers to help find the animals loving homes for the holiday season. "People haven't been spaying and neutering their cats within the last year or so, so there are a lot more litters," says Brian Bradshaw, of the Hi-Tor Animal Shelter in Pomona.

There are some 120 cats at the shelter right now, and that doesn't include those cats being taken care of in foster care. Hi-Tor representatives say that they usually have half of that number during the holidays.

The majority of the cats are younger, ranging anywhere between four months to two years in age.
