Rockland DA talks drug ring bust, Eric Lau, community prosecution

The Rockland County district attorney sat down with News 12 today to discuss a variety of topics, ranging from a recent drug ring bust right here in the Hudson Valley, the murder of a local teacher, and his office's new campaign to push for community prosecution.

Zugibe says that his office is actively trying to implement a new philosophy in criminal prosecution called "community prosecution."

The role of the district attorney is typically to prosecute criminal offenders once a crime has been committed. Under the community prosecution philosophy, the DA works hand in hand with community groups and residents to prevent crimes before they occur by becoming more engaged with community members directly.
