County Executive Astorino expected to veto new budget

County Executive Rob Astorino (R-Westchester) is expected to announce tomorrow that he will veto the current budget that was passed by the Westchester County Board.

Astorino's administration says that there are a number of unfunded liabilities and wasteful spending in the budget.

County Board members, however, say that the budget, which passed with bipartisan support, preserves county services while reducing taxes.

If Astorino vetoes the budget, it will go back the board, which is expected to vote to override the veto. That date is set for Dec. 23.

A budget must be in place by Dec. 27.
