Police: 'Suspicious' device in Mamaroneck was costume prop

Investigators say a suspicious device that was found inside an SUV in Mamaroneck yesterday turned out to be a prop from a Halloween costume. The Westchester County Bomb Squad was called to the area of Mamaroneck and Hillside avenues at around 10:30 a.m. after a store owner reported a vehicle that was illegally parked outside of his business. Officials closed Mamaroneck Avenue and parts of I-95 and no one was allowed to drive or walk within about a half-mile of the car as authorities investigated.
