Cops: Ex-Secret Service agent arraigned after holding wife hostage

A former Secret Service agent was arraigned Wednesday night after allegedly holding his wife hostage and threatening to shoot her earlier in the day.

Police say Ruben Rivera, 32, tried to choke his wife, hit her head against the wall and held her hostage at gunpoint in their Woodbury home. The wife was able to escape to a neighbor?s house.

The 32-year-old has been charged with menacing, unlawful imprisonment, reckless endangerment and harassment.
