Senator-elect Carlucci warns of artificial tree dangers

State Senator-elect David Carlucci is warning of the dangers of artificial Christmas trees, some of which he says contain deadly chemicals.

Carlucci spoke at Clarkstown Town Hall yesterday to push for legislation to require all fake trees that are sold in New York to come with a warning label that lists any hazardous chemicals.

?From what I?ve found, the research I?ve done, many of the trees do have lead in them,? Carlucci said.

Carlucci?s legislation would also require that the labels include instructions on any precautions that need to be taken when buying a tree, like the need to wash your hands after handling it.

Carlucci hopes to propose the legislation in the next few weeks.
