Teen driver crashes into New Rochelle cemetery
More than a dozen headstones are in need of repairs after a teen driver careened into a New Rochelle cemetery early Sunday morning, officials say.
Police say a 17-year-old male drove through a wrought-iron fence at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery on Kings Highway. About 14 headstones were knocked over or damaged, and police say one was smashed to pieces.
The driver says that his front wheels locked up and he lost control of the car. He was issued a ticket for driving with only a permit.
