Texas gains 4 congressional seats in census
Texas gains four House seats and Florida picksup two as a result of the latest census. New York and Ohio eachlost two seats because of the 2010 population count.
In all, eight states gained a total of 12 congressional seats,while 10 states lose House members.
The Census Bureau says the U.S. population is 308.7 million,reflecting the lowest growth since the Great Depression. Thepopulation is still shifting to the South and the West.
The only state to lose population during the past decade wasMichigan. Nevada was the fastest-growing state, with a 35-percentincrease in population.
