More HV locales declare states of emergency

With the heavy snow piling up across the Hudson Valley, the list of local municipalities that are declaring states of emergency also continues to grow.

Lewisboro, New Rochelle, Mount Kisco, Mount Vernon, the Village of Ossining, Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow, the City of Newburgh, the Town of Monroe and the Town and Village of Woodbury have all declared states of emergency, barring cars from designated roads so that snow-clearing crews have a better chance to keep the roads passable for emergency personnel.

In addition, the City of White Plains has opened a warming center at the Eastview Middle School.

The New York State Police and NYS Thruway authorities are both advising residents to stay off the roads if possible as the conditions make it hard, if not impossible, to drive.
