Armed bandit strikes quiet Lake Peekskill post office

Multiple law enforcement agencies descended on quiet Lake Peekskill yesterday morning after investigators say a man made off with an unknown amount of cash after threatening tellers with a gun.

State police, post office police and Putnam County sheriff deputies converged on the Lake Drive location after the robbery at around 9:30 a.m.

Investigators say that the suspect was wearing a black hat and black mask when he walked into the office. They say the suspect appears to be a Hispanic man who is approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, 20-30 years old with a mustache and braided hair. He fled the scene in a dark SUV in an unknown direction.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 845-225-4300.
