White Plains set to celebrate New Year's

The city of White Plains is set to usher in 2011 with a bang.

At the stroke of midnight, a glittery ball of more than 10,000 lights will drop from a 150-foot crane before the crowd. City leaders say they expect as many as 15,000 people to turn out for the celebration.

County and city police will be on hand to keep the crowd under control.

Officials say crews from the Department of Public Works spent the week getting ready for the festivities and the area is all clear of snow and slush.
