Andrew Cuomo sworn in as governor of New York State

(AP) - Andrew Cuomo has been sworn into office asNew York's 56th governor in a private ceremony Friday nighteffective at midnight.

His father, former Gov. Mario Cuomo, attended the event at thegovernor's mansion in Albany along with Andrew Cuomo's daughtersand his girlfriend and housemate, Food Channel star Sandra Lee.

Andrew Cuomo plans to work Saturday, beginning with an 8:30 a.m.cabinet meeting. A short public swearing-in ceremony is scheduledfor his first day on the job, a gesture designed to signal hisresolve to tackle New York's historic fiscal and ethical crises.

Cuomo's low-key inauguration on Saturday will include a publicceremony in a small reception parlor at the Capitol called the WarRoom for its murals of battles.

Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy was also sworn in.
