Fire in Yonkers high-rise displaces tenants

A fire at a Yonkers hire-rise today forced the evacuation of some tenants while firefighters brought the flames under control.

Firefighters say the fire broke out on the 11th floor of the Seven Pines Tower on Glenwood Avenue.

Officials say the fire was contained to four or five apartments on the 11th and 12th floors, but those living above the 11th floor were evacuated as a precaution.

The fire was extinguished in about an hour.

Yonkers Fire Commissioner Anthony Pagano says the fire appears to be electrical in nature, but officials are still investigating.
