Westchester salutes seniors for 43rd year in a row
Westchester County continued its 43-year-old tradition of saluting local senior citizens yesterday with its annual "Salute to Seniors" ceremony at the County Center in White Plains. More than 2,000 seniors from around the county gather every year for an expo that showcases the various services that are available to them, and how to take advantage of them most efficiently.
Free blood pressure screenings and other medical advice is offered free of charge, and seniors like Mary Binninger, of Mount Vernon, say that she and her friends look forward to it every year. "We make a point in the beginning of last month to make sure we have this date ready to come to seniors' day."
