Ex-Yonkers cop pleads guilty to assault, filing false report

A former Yonkers police officer has pleaded guilty to assaulting two people, arresting one of them, and then filing a false police report in an effort to cover up the incident.

Officer Paul Ramirez, who has resigned from the Yonkers police force, will spend eight weekends in jail after pleading guilty to assault and falsifying business records yesterday. Ramirez told investigators that the incident started when his brother had got into a fight at the Las Palmas Bar on Yonkers Avenue in April 2010 and called Ramirez for help. Ramirez was in uniform and on-duty when he responded to the reported assault.
