9/11 responders, family of victims gather at Ground Zero
Thousands of people lined the streets of lower Manhattan today for President Barack Obama's visit to Ground Zero.
FDNY firefighter George Brachmann, a first responder and a survivor of the attacks, joined many of the other people personally touched by the events of 9/11. Brachmann said that today was a great day for the nation, and that Obama has galvanized the country in the wake of news of Osama bin Laden's death.
Nionese Prudent, a friend of Sept. 11 victim Brian Monaghan, 21, says that she made her trip to One World Trade Center because her friend was unable to. "I just wanted to be here for him today," she said.
Diane Lopriore, of Hastings, also felt compelled to visit Ground Zero today after losing her cousin Melissa in the attacks.
Most visitors said that while they're honored the president came, they're also still mourning the memories of those who perished almost 10 years ago.
