Ex-Pelham teacher headed to prison on cocaine, sex charges

A former Pelham middle school teacher was sentenced to five years in prison on charges that he distributed cocaine and arranged to have sex with a person he believed to be a 15-year-old girl.

Gregg Cavaluzzi, of Yorktown, pleaded guilty in February after he was arrested by an undercover officer who was posing as the underage girl. Authorities say Cavaluzzi traveled to what he thought was the girl's Elmsford home at 5 a.m., where he was arrested by detectives and the FBI.

Investigators say Cavaluzzi, who taught seventh-grade social studies in Pelham for nearly two years, had been sending sexually explicit messages and photos over the Internet to the undercover agent.
