HV Little League field dedicated to crash victim, athlete

The Ramapo Little League officially renamed one of their fields after a former player who was killed in a deadly car crash while on his way to baseball practice in March 2010.

Christopher Konkowski, who was killed at age 17, started his baseball career at Rella Park in Airmont, previously home to the Little League's Field 1. This weekend, that field was renamed "The Christopher Konkowski Memorial Field," to preserve the memory of the young athlete.

"This is something that is very special in our hearts, and it's something that'll keep Chris' memory going forever," said Little League President Bill Mauriello. A field for Vincent Crotty, Konkowski's teammate who was also killed in last year's crash, has been dedicated in his memory at Suffern's recreation complex.
