WC board votes along party lines to pass redistricting
The Westchester County Board voted tonight to adapt redrawn district maps for the county.
As expected, legislators voted 12-5 along party lines to pass the redistricting. The new maps will now head to county Executive Rob Astorino (R-Westchester) for his approval or veto.
It's become a battle in Westchester every 10 years when the latest U.S. census data is released and district lines must be adjusted.
This year, Westchester County Republicans have accused the Democratic-controlled board of skewing the new maps in their favor.
The new district lines were drawn up by a consultant who specializes in demographics.
