Group: Education top priority in Mount Vernon

City leaders and residents of Mount Vernon are teaming up to try and help local kids.

The group, called the Mount Vernon Alliance for Children's Education, is comprised of a number of members from the community and parents who want a voice for change. They want more people to get involved with the city's public school system and make education the number-one priority in Mount Vernon.

A two-day educational symposium will take place on Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21. The public is urged to attend.
