Hazmat team called to Harrison home

Police and hazmat teams say they responded to a call about a suspicious package at a home on Main Street in Harrison this morning.

Police say a woman visiting her brother called police after she picked up her mail in White Plains and opened a package that she believed to be potentially dangerous.

Investigators say the package was from a Spanish promotional company and contained five single dollar bills. They say the woman told police she saw a white powdery substance in the package and feared it may have been narcotics.

Police say they didn't want to take any chances and called in the hazmat team. The team was able to determine the package was not a threat within a few minutes.
