Report: Health care costs rising, workers sharing expenses
A new report shows that American families are paying more for their health care than they did only one year ago, and that employers are forcing workers to pay higher premiums for coverage.
The report, conducted by Healthcare Consulting Firm Milliman Inc., showed that workers who are insured through their jobs and have four people in their families are paying $19,400 in health care costs, up some $1,300 compared with figures from last year. It also shows that physician costs for most families represent 33 percent of a family's overall out-of-pocket expenses. Analysts attribute the increase to employers forcing their employees to pay more for their health care.
