Skeletal remains found inside Yonkers home
Police in hazmat suits removed skeletal remains found inside a Yonkers home today.
According to authorities, the mummified body at 67 Alexander Ave. is believed to have been decomposing for three to eight years. They say the remains were found among piles of garbage, dead rats and food, partially dressed and wrapped in a blanket.
Officials say a relative called police to report there was a body inside the home. They aren't identifying the person living there, but neighbors say she is a reclusive woman and they believe the body is her father.
The county medical examiner will now determine a cause and time of death. Police say it's unclear if criminal charges will be filed.
