Most school budgets pass in Westchester

Voters in Westchester went to the polls today to vote on their school budgets, most of which were passed.

Voters in Lakeland passed a budget that included up to a 14.2-percent tax increase by a large margin.

White Plains residents agreed to a 2.7-percent tax increase by a nearly 3-1 margin.

In Greenburgh, voters failed a 5.8-percent tax hike for the proposed $54.7 million budget. The budget was rejected by five votes.

In Mount Vernon, voters did not pass a $208.8 million budget with a 7.5-percent tax increase by a wide margin.

In Putman County, all budgets passed except Mahopac's $112.8 million budget with a 2.5-prercent tax increase.
