Heavy rains leave local roadways underwater

The heavy rain that washed over the Hudson Valley today is taking a toll on area roadways, leaving parts of the Bronx River Parkway underwater and parts of the Saw Mill River Parkway closed off.

Flooding in Thornwood caused the state Department of Transportation to close the northbound lanes of the Saw Mill at about 10:30 a.m.

Local residents say heavy rains frequently send the Saw Mill River Parkway over its banks in Thornwood.
