Traffic normal after car bursts into flames on I-87

Traffic is slowly returning to normal after a car burst into flames on the New York State Thruway this morning, forcing all of the southbound lanes to be shut down as crews worked to tame the raging inferno. Investigators say the car somehow ignited in the southbound lanes of I-87 near the Palisades Parkway in Nyack around 5:45 a.m., forcing all southbound traffic to come to a halt, and causing some serious delays in the northbound lanes due to rubbernecking.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The wreckage was cleared around 7:30 a.m.
