Trial begins for WC author accused of keeping sex slaves

The trial of a Pound Ridge author accused of hiring women from overseas and forcing them into sex slavery began today in the federal courthouse in Brooklyn.

Prosecutors allege that Joseph Yannai created a fake online persona and enticed foreign women to come to America for work, but he instead sexually exploited them.

The defense says the women were free to leave at any time, noting that Yannai had driven one of the victims to the airport.

The trial is expected to continue tomorrow as at least seven more alleged victims are expected to testify.

Yannai is charged with coercion, fraud, enticement and forced labor. He is currently out on bond.WC author accused of sex crimes could go homeAuthor Joseph Yannai arrested in sex slavery case
