Brewster boy recovering after nearly losing two toes

A freak accident nearly severed two toes on a young Brewster boy, but thanks to a skilled medical team, his toes were reattached.

Hee-Wan Kiim, 5, was playing when his toes got caught in the track of a sliding glass door, nearly severing his fourth and fifth toes on one of his feet.

Surgeons at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow were able to reattach the two toes.

The boy is now undergoing hyperbaric treatments, which increase oxygen to encourage blood vessel growth and hopefully a speedier recovery.

Doctors say they expect him to be back to normal soon.
