Yonkers firefighter honored for heroics

One of Yonkers' bravest is being honored today for bringing two men to safety after their scaffold suddenly collapsed.

Firefighter Mike Giroux was honored by the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for his bravery after two workers were forced to hang from a Yonkers high-rise for 90 minutes in March.

Giroux was lowered down to the men during a daring rescue that attracted national attention.

Not only did Giroux get an award, he has also been nominated for a $10,000 grant and a trip to Disney World for him and his family.
