Family of beating victim thanks Yonkers police for making arrests

The family of Robert Lopez is thanking Yonkers police for making two arrests in connection with his attack last week.

Lopez was beaten outside a bar on Nepperhan Avenue. Police arrested James McGeechan, 20, and Benis Meledez, 21, in connection with the beating.

Lopez suffered severe brain trauma as a result of the attack.

Lorraine Lopez, the victim's sister and a Yonkers mayoral aide, says her brother is unlikely to survive his injuries.

Both suspects are due in court Friday.
