HV businesses prep for impending holiday rush

Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial beginning of summer, and local businesses are already preparing for the onslaught of deal-hungry shoppers that accompanies the typically sunny celebration.

At the Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers, signs advertising this weekend's big sales are already out in front of many stores, and Guess manager Lacrena Taylor says that she's hoping that the extra efforts help boost business. "After all this rain we just had, we're pretty excited for the summer to be out, and [customers] can come out and get summer wardrobes in our store, so I'm excited."

A topiary garden is on display for any non-shoppers looking to relax while surrounded by masterfully sculpted plants like a person-sized high heel shoe, and a designer-inspired handbag.
