Yonkers Raceway tellers accused of betting on the job

Nearly a dozen tellers at the Yonkers Raceway have been suspended after they were allegedly caught placing bets while on the job.

The 11 workers will all have to pay fines for allegedly betting on horse races while on duty, a practice that the raceway's general manager says used to be completely legal.

"Many of our tellers have been working here for 30 years, and this rule was just instituted in 2007 ? so for two years, they continue practices that were legal and permissible previous to 2007," general manager Bob Galterio said.

The tellers will all serve 30-day suspensions and will have to pay $250 fines.
