Yonkers holds Memorial Day parade in honor of veterans

After last years Memorial Day parade was canceled, Yonkers held a parade this year honoring veterans who have served their country.

For WWII veteran and Yonkers native Edmund "Buzz" Bianco, the parade brings back memories of his 10 months of combat, serving with the 204th Combat Engineers.

The Grand Marshal of the parade was Ron Garan, Sr., whose son, Ron Garan, Jr., was a Gulf War veteran and an astronaut currently aboard the International Space Station.

Mayor Phil Amicone (R-Yonkers) says last year's parade cancellation was due to budget cuts and will never happen again.
