Yonkers names new top cop

Yonkers Mayor-elect Mike Spano today chose the city's deputy police chief to take over the entire department.

Charles Gardner, the mayor-elect's first official appointment, will replace Commissioner Edmund Hartnett in January.

"I'm really excited about the job, I can't wait to get started," Gardner says. "I'm looking forward to working with the new administration as we move forward in 2012."
