Yonkers shoemaker holds winter clothing drive
A Yonkers businessman distributed coats and other items this morning to keep the needy warm during the upcoming winter months. Shoemaker Harry Wesley closed his store this afternoon, but set up shop under a tent in Getty Square for his second annual clothing drive. With the help of the city's fire department and other community groups, he says a difficult economy makes the event that much more meaningful. "People are really struggling," Wesley says. "They don't have the means to go out and buy coats." For the past 20 years, Wesley has also given turkeys for Thanksgiving and has run a year-round food pantry.Shoe repair shop donates turkeys to those in need
