White Plains gearing up for New Year's Eve festivities

While Times Square is known worldwide for its annual star-studded ball drop ceremony, the Crossroads of the World is not the only game in town when it comes to New Year's Eve fun.
On Saturday, downtown White Plains will ring in 2012 with a New Year's Eve Family Spectacular featuring a fireworks display and Westchester's version of the famous ball drop.
Restaurants and bars in White Plains are getting ready for big business this weekend. Streets will be blocked off, and the hope is that once the clock strikes midnight, the crowds will head indoors to start the new year by raising a glass or two.
Serafina Restaurant opened in May just steps away from all of the action. Owner Astrit Rucaj hopes local residents will come out for the celebration and stick around to enjoy the food rather than travel to New York City.
