Man pleads not guilty to new charges in Rye Town Hilton murder

A man accused of helping to arrange the killings of his sister's husband and mother-in-law has pleaded not guilty to new charges.

Cristobal Veliz, of Brooklyn, entered his plea Friday. The new charges include murder in aid of racketeering, which carries a mandatory life sentence.

The 57-year-old Veliz and his sister, Narcy Novack, are accused in the separate 2009 killings of Ben Novack, Jr. and Bernice Novack. Ben Novack was beaten to death at the Rye Town Hilton. Bernice Novack was killed in her Fort Lauderdale, Fla., home. Ben Novack's father built the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach.

Narcy Novack pleaded not guilty to the new charges a month ago.

Veliz's arraignment was delayed when he complained that the new charges had not been fully explained to him.AP wire services contributed to this report
