New City family goes through tough week without power

For Carmen and Victor Padilla, of New City, going a week without power was not only an inconvenience, but because of Victor's recent knee surgery, it became a major aggravation.

The Padillas booked a hotel room after the storm to ride out the power outage, but were told they couldn't stay. They ended up having to commute back and forth to Queens to stay at a relative's house.

Fortunately, the power was finally restored, but the couple says that all the food that was purchased for Thanksgiving and other events has to be replaced.

"It makes me feel very sad," says Carmen Padilla. "I could feed God knows how many families with what I'm throwing away right now."
