Slashing at WCCC leaves 1 injured

A Westchester Community College student was slashed last night at the Valhalla campus over what police believe was a laptop computer.

According to police, the attacker might have used a box cutter when a fight between him and another male student went too far. An unidentified male student recently had his laptop stolen from his car and confronted a student he believed was responsible. The slashing occurred following an argument after the accused student called a friend to come to the campus, according to police.

Police cordoned off the area for over an hour while they interviewed students and searched the area. Officials say the student who was slashed went to class after the fight until the teacher suggested he get checked out. The student was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

Police are still searching for the other two students involved.
