Bedford residents protest presence of registered sex offenders

Many residents in Bedford are outraged after learning that two registered sex offenders have moved to their town.

David Ohnmacht, who just served eight years for sexually abusing five teenage girls, and Steven Milligan, who served five years for raping a teenage girl, are now both living in the community.

Residents packed an educational forum at Bedford Town Hall last night to hear from police and other officials.

Organizers say the goal of the forum was to try and calm people's fears about the sex offenders moving in.

Lt. Jeff Dickan, of the Bedford Police Department, says, "We have increased patrols, we're trying to educate the public in general, we're trying to have meetings like this, make them aware of the public website, make them aware, go to a mall put that zip code in, see what you find out."
