Spano, Amicone carry out transition at Yonkers City Hall

The transition of power is well under way at Yonkers City Hall, where the outgoing mayor and mayor-elect shared an unplanned, light exchange this morning.

The incumbent, Republican Phil Amicone, has promised a smooth transition for his Democratic replacement, Mike Spano, but was critical today of a comment Spano made about cleaning house at Yonkers City Hall.

"It makes it tough for the workers. They have done a terrific job and are professionals and they'd like to think they have the ability to reapply and retain their jobs," Amicone says.

Spano has downplayed the situation and insisted he only wants what's best for Yonkers. He also says he's grateful for Amicone's support.
