WC Medical Center nurses, staffers protest cuts

Unionized nurses and support workers from Westchester Medical Center picketed on hospital grounds today in protest of possible cuts and layoffs. Representatives of the Civil Service Employees Union and the New York State Nurses Association say the hospital may lay off some 650 workers if they don't make drastic contract concessions. The employees rallied on their lunch hours against the cuts. They say the hospital's president, Michael Israel, is just demanding too much. The hospital declined to comment on today's rally.
