Disaster averted as firefighters extinguish Yonkers fire

Yonkers firefighters quickly descended on Elm Street this morning for a fire in an apartment building.

The fire started around 10:30 a.m. and firefighters were able to put it out before it spread.

The flames were in the window of a third-floor apartment in the building.

The fire chief says the damage was kept to just the window area by the quick action of residents and firefighters.

Chief Fitzpatrick in Yonkers says no one was injured during the fire.
