Funeral held for gunman in Mahopac murder-suicide

Somber family members and friends gathered for a funeral service today for the gunman in a murder-suicide that shocked the Town of Carmel last week. Police say Michael Boccardi, 47, simply snapped when he found out his estranged wife was dating a coworker and friend, 56-year-old Michael Purdy. Investigators say Boccardi shot Purdy last week and then turned the gun on himself over the love triangle. Today's funeral procession was led by a truck from the Carmel Highway Department, where both Boccardi and Purdy had worked. The funeral at St. Elizabeth Anne Seton Church was attended by Boccardi's wife and four children. His son and one of his daughters read a eulogy for their father and both spoke of his sharp sense of humor. Hundreds of people from the community turned out to support the family. Boccardi is being buried at Rose Hills Memorial Park. A funeral for Purdy is scheduled for Tuesday in Mahopac.Wakes planned for Carmel highway workers in murder-suicideCops: Mahopac murder-suicide was result of love triangle
