Police try to unravel Yonkers suitcase murder
As Yonkers police try to identify the murder victim who was dumped inside a suitcase along the New York State Thruway, a former NYPD detective spoke to News 12 Westchester about the difficulty involved in unraveling such a crime.
Ex-NYPD Detective Gil Alba says neighbors should not fear that a serial killer is on the prowl. He also thinks the secluded location off Sprain Road and the New York State Thruway is the perfect dumping ground.
"It's an easy stop at 2 or 3 in the morning - dump the body for a second, get back in the car and speed away," he says.
Authorities are now working with other agencies to try and collect DNA from the victim in hopes of identifying the decomposed remains. For more of Gil Alba's analysis of the case, go to Channel 612 on your iO digital cable box and select iO Extra.
